Signs, omens, karma, a divine power, luck, fate, destiny, chance- whatever it is that plays its hand at often unpredictable times in our lives, I welcome it.

And yes, this is another end of the year reflection, though a collective one of years past.

2008. My first NYE in NYC I was lost in some part of Brooklyn and just a few minutes shy of making it to my destination before midnight. I’m pretty sure I spent all of 2009 feeling lost.

2009. NYE: As I was walking into a random warehouse party I slipped and fell on my ass, real hard. 2010 was a time of learning to pick myself up and get going.

2010. NYE: Decided to go to a bash in the LES with just one friend to see what would happen when I didn’t follow someone else’s plans- met some new folks, gave some advice, had an overall decent time. 2011 has been a year of new friendships, good and confusing times, new professional relationships, gained respect, but most of all hope and growth.

2011. NYE: As of now, all I know is that it will not include Korbel. This year I’d like to bring it in with some Piper or Clicquot cause 2012 will be a year of escalated fruition and new opportunities, so why start it with something cheap and habitual. It’s as easy as that sometimes– a little change that can progress into a new practice. New is good, new is scary, new is exciting, new is refreshing, new is risky, new is different. 2012 will be…new*.

*pending elaboration until 2013 approaches.
